Congratulations to the Fischer Lab class of 2013

Congratulations to Shannen Poon and Samuel Lin who became new Berkeley graduates this year.  They have both worked hard in the Fischer Lab for 1.5 years now.  Shannen won the Outstanding Poster award for her Honors thesis work with Jenny, describing the VIM5 gene and its affect on seed size in Arabidopsis, and was awarded I.L. Chaikoff Memorial Award, for her degree overall, recognizing her outstanding achievement and excellence in Cell and Developmental Biology.  Shannen is heading to Cambridge University in the UK for a summer placement program, and is trying to decide between grad school and medical school.  Meanwhile, our budding researcher Sam is staying in the lab over the summer, to carry on his project characterizing the function of histone variants in the Arabidopsis seed.
